Dear Parents and Carers,

200 Club – St. Joseph’s Lottery supporting the children’s School Council
The school has for many years had its own form of the lottery, for which support has dwindled over the years.

Now for every £1 ticket bought, 50p will support projects planned by the children through their School Council! The other 50p will go towards the prize fund! You can buy as many as you like every month. The draw takes place once a month and the more people buy tickets the larger the prizes will be!!!

Recently this fund has supported the development of the new garden area, which will enhance the learning environment for all children.

If you would like to take part in our special lottery please see Mrs. Gossan in the school office – you can even buy tickets through standing order!

Christmas Lights in Forest Road
Every evening from the 1st December until the 6th January there will be a fantastic show of outdoor Christmas lights at 255 Forest Road. Also on Saturday 5th December until the 12th Father Christmas will be there from 4.30-6.30pm. Presents for the children are priced at £2.00 each. All money raised supports the British Heart Foundation and supports local people. Last year £2,600 was raised and the gaol for this year is £3,000 this year.

After School Clubs
We had some confusion following the Multi-Sports club earlier this week. This was mainly due to children and parents leaving the school through a variety of different exits and staff not being who had left school. To avoid confusion in future, nobody will be able to access the hall through the reception courtyard. All children must leave the hall via the main school entrance and be signed out by Mrs. Martin or another member of staff.

School Attendance –
The following classes achieved over 95% attendance last week - Miss Wright’s class, Mrs Ford’s class, Mr Sherwin’s class, Mrs Bell’s class

Well done to Mr. Sherwin’s class for achieving over 98% attendance!!!

Dear Parent/Carer,

Religious Education – Other Faiths - Preparations

From Monday 16th November until Friday 20th November, pupils will study various aspects of Judaism for 1 week. Ask them what they have been learning about.

Also from Monday 23rd November until Friday 18th December the final topic of the term is Preparations. This topic takes us into our Advent season, a time to prepare for the celebration of Jesus’ birth at Christmas. The children will look at the importance of preparing for special events and how the Church gets ready for the coming of Jesus during Advent.

Suggestions for home activities

If appropriate, at home have an Advent Wreath or calendar to ‘countdown’ the time of preparing for Christmas.
Share together what you know about Advent as a season of the Church’s year.
Use the CAFOD or Mission Together website to get a religious Advent calendar.

We would like to compile a recipe book of all the favourite recipes of the St Joseph's Community - a starter, main course, puddings or cakes - whatever your family enjoys the most. We would like each family to donate a favourite recipe to be included in the book which can be tried and enjoyed by the rest of the community. If you would like to send a recipe to be included in the book you can either e-mail Mrs Gossan at bursar.st.josephs.p@bristol.gov.uk or send it in on a piece of paper. Please ensure that you put the ingredients first and then the cooking instructions. The deadline for sending in your recipes is now Monday 9th November as we aim to have the book ready for sale by the 1st December. PLEASE SHARE YOUR RECEPIES!!!!

Dinner Money

Please could you ensure that all dinner monies are paid on a Monday either to your child’s class teacher or the school office. I would grateful for your help in this matter as we collect the money on behalf of Bristol City Council and they collect the dinner money on Tuesday morning.
