Dear Parents and Carers,

Ofsted Inspection
As you all know a team of Ofsted Inspectors visited the school this week. Can I thank all parents for your tremendous support and thank the children for being enthusiastic learners as always. We will publish inspection findings as soon as we are able.

Sun Protection
The weather is currently wonderful which means the children have been able to use the school field more often. We advise that all children have a sun hat in school at all times. If you wish your child to put on sun cream in school, we also advise they have this in school everyday, again clearly labelled with their name.

Big Jubilee Lunch and Dress Up
To celebrate the Queen’s Jubilee there will be a special lunch for the children on Wednesday 30th May.  Also, on Friday 1st June children can dress up in red, white and blue to celebrate the Jubilee.

Barton Fields Diamond Jubilee Celebrations
On Sunday 3rd June from 12-4pm at Barton Fields, Duncombe Lane, Speedwell, there will be celebrations for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.  There will be stalls, food and drink, pony rides, 7-aside rugby and lots more.  There will be an unveiling of a plaque designating the area as a ‘Queen Elizabeth 2nd Field’.

Parents to read with Children
We are trying to organise a group of parents who will be able to come into school to read with children on a regular basis. We will be providing some simple training so that parents are familiar with the reading strategies taught in school and used by children. All regular volunteers will need to complete a CRB check, which will be paid for by the school. Please let Mrs Slade know if you are able to offer your help and when you are available.

Choir singing at Olympic Torch Event
On Tuesday afternoon the school choir will be singing in the Millennium Square as part of the entertainment before the arrival of the Olympic Torch in the evening.  They will be singing at 3.30pm as part of a larger Primary Phase Choir and will be singing a song especially commissioned for the event.  Parents wishing to support their children, or to come and see the choir, are welcome.  Parking will be problematic however as the @Bristol car park will be closed and on street parking will be for events personnel only.  Parking further away and walking to the Square is the best option.  The Millennium square celebrations are free but for more ticket details please follow this link http://www.bristol.gov.uk/page/olympic-torch-relay-evening-celebration.  The school does not have tickets.  The choir will be returning to school at about 4.30 and will need to be collected from the Entrance Hall. The choir and I are really looking forward to this historic occasion and hope many of you will be able to join us.  Mrs C. Marsh
