Charity Coffee Morning - Ronald McDonald House

Ronald McDonald House, Bristol, is an independent charity which provides Home from Home accommodation, free of charge, to the families of critically ill children receiving care at the Bristol Royal Hospital for Children.

When a child is very ill, they may need to travel away from home to receive the treatment that they require. Having a child who requires medical care away from home can be a very stressful experience; imagine being in a strange city, miles from home, with nowhere to sleep and without the support of your family and loved ones around you. Our aim is to keep families together during what is probably one of the most stressful times of their lives.

Denise from the charity has already spoken to staff and children and we have invited her back into school to talk to parents about their work. The school will be supporting this charity this year and this is an informal chance to come into school for coffee and learn more about their very important work.

Autumn Fete

A reminder that the Autumn Fete is next Friday, October 12th from 3.30 until 5.30pm. Please come and support the PTFA who support the work of the school. Children can wear non uniform on this day for 50p, which also pays for all families to come into the Fete.

Attendance

Well done to Mrs Ford’s, Mrs Joseph’s and Mrs Patton’s classes who had 98% attendance last week.

Celebration Assembly

There will be a celebration assembly on Monday 8th October, at 9.15am where the following children will receive their headteachers award: Sean Turner, Jackson Marley, Oliver Kelliher-Swash, Darshan Sebastian, Sylvia Buyoya and Hannah James.

The second part of this assembly will be led by Andy Irwin from Foodbank, a local charity that provides food packages for familes in need. St Joseph’s will be supporting this charity this year, especially as we prepare for our Harvest Mass. You are all welcome to come to the assembly to learn more about their work.
