Dear
Parents and Carers,
Ofsted Inspection
We are pleased to welcome a
team of Ofsted inspectors into school next Tuesday and Wednesday. A parent
questionnaire is being sent out to all families today. We are very proud of
what our children are achieving at St Joseph’s and appreciate any feedback you
can give the inspecting team.

Choir singing at Olympic Torch Event
On Tuesday afternoon the
school choir will be singing in the Millennium Square as part of the
entertainment before the arrival of the Olympic Torch in the evening. They will be singing at 3.30pm as part of a
larger Primary Phase Choir and will be singing a song especially commissioned
for the event. Parents wishing to
support their children, or to come and see the choir, are welcome. Parking will be problematic however as the @Bristol
car park will be closed and on street parking will be for events personnel
only. Parking further away and walking
to the Square is the best option. The Millennium
square celebrations are free but for more ticket details please follow this
link http://www.bristol.gov.uk/page/olympic-torch-relay-evening-celebration. The school does not have tickets. The choir will be returning to school at
about 4.30 and will need to be collected from the Entrance Hall. The choir and
I are really looking forward to this historic occasion and hope many of you
will be able to join us. Mrs C. Marsh
Parents to read with Children
We are trying to organise a
group of parents who will be able to come into school to read with children on
a regular basis. We will be providing some simple training so that parents are
familiar with the reading strategies taught in school and used by children. All
regular volunteers will need to complete a CRB check, which will be paid for by
the school. Please let Mrs Slade know if you are able to offer your help and
when you are available.
Attendance
Well done to Mrs Ford and Mrs Mantle’s class with 99% attendance
last week! Their classes will have a
non-uniform day. Also well done to Mr Conlon’s class with 98% attendance and Mrs
Joseph and Mrs Bell’s classes had 97%. All dates for non-uniform days will be
published in the newsletter.
Overall attendance in our school has improved significantly this
year and is now better than national levels at 95.8%. Thank you all for your
support this year.
