The school
Fair is tomorrow starting at 12pm. Please come and enjoy the fun!
Mrs Joseph
and Year 4 Topic Presentation
Mrs
Joseph is not in school at the moment as she has unfortunately broken her arm.
This means her class topic presentation will have to be postponed. We wish that she gets well soon.
Charity
Fundraising
This has been a priority for the school this year and we all greatly
appreciate your on-going support. These projects have enriched the educational
experience of our children, but most importantly our community is demonstrating
its care for others in need. All classes are sharing stories about their
charitable work in newsletters this term. Here is our contribution from Year
5:
Our Class Y5C
decided to raise money for Wallace and Gromit’s, as it was a local
charity. During this time our topic in
class was called ‘Show Me The Money’. We
came up with lots of different ideas to raise money and decided on selling yo
yos, jumpies, bookmarks and spirographs.
We sold all these items during playtime in class. In literacy we focused on advertising and
using persuasive language, for other students to buy our products. This was a fun way to learn more about
money. When we finally counted our
money, we raised a whopping £277.72!!!
The whole class definitely enjoyed raising money for charity
Year 3 Charity Cake Sale
Year 3 are
holding a cake sale next Friday (12th July) to raise money for their
class charity CAFOD. The cake sale will
run from 2.15pm until the end of the day, with any remaining cakes being sold
after school. If you’re able to
contribute any cakes they would be greatly appreciated. Please bring them to Y4 by Thursday 11th
July.
Year 6 leaver's
Lunch
The year 6 leaver’s lunch will take place
on Friday 19th July. The cost is £2.20 and the menu the children have chosen as
their favourite is jerk chicken and chips or pizza and chips. For pudding they have chosen brownies.
School Shoes
Many children
are wearing footwear into school that is not school uniform. Our policy clearly
states that children must wear plain black
shoes or black trainers. These shoes should not have logos on them. We
expect that all children wear the correct footwear when they return in
September.
School Crossing
Mrs Pauline
Shearer will not be in all next week.
Please tell your children to be careful when crossing.
Sun Protection
The weather is currently wonderful which means the children have been able to use the school field more often. We advise that all children have a sun hat in school at all times. If you wish your child to put on sun cream in school, we also advise they have this in school everyday, again clearly labelled with their name.
Sports Day 2013
Sports Day is going to
run a little differently this year. The
children will be split into 4 teams, which will be named after 4 famous sports
personalities. There will be the usual
popular athletic events, as well as some more traditional races, such as the
egg and spoon and obstacle race. Sports
day will start at 9.30am and will run through until 11.30am, with awards and
certificates being announced and handed out in a special sports day assembly
the following day. We would love parents
to come and support the children as they compete. Sports day has been organised this year, so that
there is always something happening on the main running track, so it would be
wonderful if parents could show their support and encouragement in an area
marked out alongside the side of the running track closest to the fence and
hedge. This way, as well as supporting
your own child/ren you can show encouragement to the children in all of the
other year groups too and you’ll get to see a good variety of sport!
Internet Safety – Social Media
Despite the
rules of Facebook stating that you must be 13 years old, there seems to be a
growing trend of young children creating accounts. The school computer network
blocks social network sites at school but children are still accessing them at
home. To try and help protect those children that are on Facebook we have
explained to them how to set the privacy settings so that only people they know
and trust can see their personal information. To do this click on the ‘account’
menu on the left side of the webpage, and select ‘privacy’, then select friends
only for all options.

9.10am where the following children will receive their Headteacher’s Award: Paige Halliday, Kiara Savage, Bartosz Spocinski,
Mya Sarkozi and Joel Vadhyanath.
