Firstly can I
thank all of the PTFA, helpers, pupils and members of staff, for making
Saturday’s Summer Fair a great success. There are lots of pictures on the blog.
Mrs Patton and
Mrs Mantle
As you know, after many years of service as
teachers, Mrs Patton and Mrs Mantle will be retiring at the end of this term.
During the Summer Fair several parents were asking if a collection was being
organised. The school is more than happy to do this and will pass any collected
funds to a small group of Year 6 parents who have volunteered to buy gifts on
your behalf. Please send any gift donations to the school office in a labelled
envelope. We expect to present these gifts at the Leaver’s Mass on the last day
of term.
Sports Day 2013
and advice on sun protection
The weather forecast for
Wednesday is still sunny and very warm. Unless the temperatures rise we do plan
on continuing with Sports Day, although we will be taking the following
precautions:
- Our Sports Day is planned for the
morning, when the temperature will not be as high.
- So we can start as early as possible, can
all children take their PE kit home on Tuesday so that they can wear their
PE kits into school. They can bring their school uniform into school in
their PE bags.
- Can all children have suncream applied
before they come to school.
- Can all children bring sunhats and water
bottles.
- The school will provide emergency water.
- The school will also provide some shelter
that can be used if children get too hot (If any parents have any
gazebos that we can borrow could you please let the office know).
- Sports Day will finish by 11.30am before it gets too hot.
Here are the general
arrangements for the day:
Sports Day is going to
run a little differently this year. The
children will be split into 4 teams, which will be named after 4 famous sports
personalities. There will be the usual
popular athletic events, as well as some more traditional races, such as the
egg and spoon and obstacle race.
Sports day will start at 9.30am and will run through until 11.30am, with awards and certificates being announced and handed out in a special sports day assembly the following day. We would love parents to come and support the children as they compete. Sports day has been organised this year, so that there is always something happening on the main running track, so it would be wonderful if parents could show their support and encouragement in an area marked out alongside the side of the running track closest to the fence and hedge. This way, as well as supporting your own child/ren you can show encouragement to the children in all of the other year groups too and you’ll get to see a good variety of sport!
British
Heart Foundation (BHF) Jump Off
As
you know, our school has just held a British Heart Foundation (BHF) Jump Off
event. The day was a huge success and we
were delighted with the number of students taking part. We would like to thank you, your family and friends
for all their support.
We
are now collecting sponsorship money and would appreciate your help in
encouraging your child to collect the money as soon as possible. The sooner we return the money to the BHF the
sooner your child will receive their certificate. It would be a real help to us if you could
convert your child’s sponsorship money into a cheque or postal order as these
are far easier to handle than cash.
Y4 Topic
Presentation
We
expect Mrs Joseph to be absent from work for the remainder of the term, due to
her broken arm. However Mrs Iqbal, who the children all know well, will be the class
teacher until the end of term. The postponed Topic Presentation will now be on
Wednesday 17th July 2013 at 9.10am. Parents are welcomed into class
afterwards for 20 minutes to look at their child’s work.
