Dear Parents/Carers,

A reminder that the school is closed next Friday (26th September) for a staff training day. The school is also closed the following Friday (3rd October) for a staff training day.

Attendance

Well done to Years 2 and 6 for their 100% attendance last week. Also well done to Years 3 and 4 with 99% attendance. All four classes will have a special non-uniform day on Wednesday 24th September. What a great start to the school year!

Macmillan Cancer Support Coffee Morning a message from Year 6

Dear Pupils, staff, parents/ guardians, 
                                                                                                                                          
On the 25th September Year 6 will be having a coffee morning for the charity of Macmillan Cancer Support. It is a charity which supports children and other people who suffer from cancer. There will also be a non-uniform day. If you want to wear non-uniform you are asked to bring £1. All this money will go to the Macmillan charity.

There will also be lots of fun games and activities such as Penalty Shootout, Speed Stacking, Pick n Mix, Pick a stick and Blow the ball and other fun things during the day. The coffee and cakes will be held in the school hall from 10:30 until 11:30.

The whole of Year 6

Last Years Y6 Class went to:

8 pupils to St Bernadette, 7 pupils to St Mary Redcliffe, 2 pupils to Bristol Cathedral, 2 pupils to Bristol Met,  2 pupils to Bristol Brunel, 1 pupil to Colstons Girls, one pupil to Oldfield and one pupil to John Cabot.

Well done to St Bernadette Secondary School!
St Bernadette Catholic Secondary are celebrating the best GCSE results in the history of the school. 68% of pupils obtained 5A*-C passes including English and Maths. Results across a range of subjects are strong.
Headteacher Mrs McLaughlin said, We are delighted to be celebrating our students successes. All members of our school community have worked hard and we are proud of their achievements. We work hard to ensure every young person experiences success within a caring, supportive environment and it is wonderful to see our students realise their potential and leave St Bernadettes with strong results and a commitment to being the best they can be.
St Bernadette Chair of Governors, Kate Nicholls added, Our congratulations go to all our pupils who have embraced all the opportunities provided at St Bernadette, have worked hard and are celebrating their successes. We wish them all the best for the future.

Registering for Pupil Premium

Letters have gone home this week to parents about this additional funding. It would be very useful if all parents could sign the letter saying if they are interested or not in registering for the Pupil Premium.

Prospective Parents Tours

There will be tours for prospective parents for September 2015. The dates are:

     Wednesday 1st October at 2pm
       Wednesday 8th October at 10am
        Thursday 16th October at 2pm

Staff Training Days (school closed)

A fourth staff training day has been planned for Monday 2nd February 2014. We have one more training day and will let you know the date as soon as possible.

Governor Vacancies

Vacancies have arisen for a Foundation Governor and a Parent Governor.  For further information please contact Fr Paul or our school secretary with your name and contact number and a governor will get back to you.

There will be a celebration assembly on Monday 22nd  September, where the following children will receive their Headteacher's Award:
